Reading Club
It is, as you know, very important to read to your child every day to foster a lifelong love of books and reading. To reinforce this idea, we have set up a reading program that requires reading to your child at least 15 minutes every day.
Your child has received a dinosaur bookmark and one "Reading Club” card. After you read to your child each day, have him/her color in one dinosaur on the card. Write the name(s) of the book(s) on the back of the card. Please color only 1 dinosaur per day. After all of the dinosaurs have been colored, please return the card and your bookmark. Your child will then pick out one book charm to be attached to his/her bookmark. We will then send home another Reading Club card. After your child has earned 9 charms, he/she will receive a special charm.
Below we have listed a few optional reading suggestions to share with your child:

Point to the words in the book as you read, and if there are repeated refrains in the book, pause at those points and let your child supply the words.

Point to the title of the book and discuss the author & illustrator.

In the car, encourage your child to “read” the signs, such as “Stop”, “Yield”, “Railroad Crossing”, etc… Explain what these signs mean and why they are important.

Use magazines and newspapers to create letter and word collages.

Label objects around your house so that your child will learn to associate the object with the printed word.

Celebrate the “letter of the week” in your home!
